While a graduate student at the University of Utah, I was very honored to receive the Ramona W. Cannon Award for Teaching Excellence in 2005. In addition to receiving a Graduate Teaching Fellowship within the English Department, I was named a University Graduate Fellow in 2004. I was also awarded a Lawrence J. Burton Fellowship in 2001.
I was awarded a Travel Grant to attend and present at the 2004 Western Humanities Alliance Conference.
At Penn State, I received a High Pass on my MFA Comprehensive Exam in 1997, and was subsequently inducted into the Phi Kappa Phi Honors Society in 1998.
I also received a Graduate Research Grant in 1997 to conduct archival research in the Kay Boyle Collection at Southern Illinois University.
At UC Santa Cruz, I received Highest Honors on the Philosophy Comprehensive Exam in 1990, and was awarded at graduation Honors in Philosophy, Honors in Literature, Kresge College Honors, and was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Honors Society in 1991.
